Gaitherin’ – Scots noun for a gathering, or coming together.
Sadly we can’t really do this in person at present and one of the casualties of lock down has been face to face professional learning. However, that doesn’t mean that PL needs to come to a standstill. Impressed by the offerings of groups like researchED Home and the Teacher Development Trust, Mark Healy and I wanted to arrange something for teachers in Scotland. We have asked a few people if they would like to contribute to an online gaitherin’ so that we can carry on learning more about the craft of teaching and hopefully still feel part of a very supportive and resilient community. It is, of course, open to anyone interested in professional learning, but it will occasionally cover issues that are particular to Scottish education.
Each Saturday at 10am we’ll post a presentation here and the guest host will be on Twitter to answer questions. You can be there live or simply catch up later, it’s up to you. And, crucially, this is all absolutely free and voluntary. Follow the hashtag #PLgaitherin on Twitter to follow the debate. We hope to see you there, and in person when the world is put back together.
